These will be developed under the Urban Forest Scheme. Under this, two hundred city forests will be developed throughout the country in the next five years. States have been asked to propose for this. Union Forest and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar announced this on the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday. The World Environment Day was virtualized this year by the Ministry in view of the threat of corona infection. People from all over the country were involved in the environment, including UNESCO.

He appealed to all the states to actively participate in this campaign. He also said that soon a competition will be started on Municipal Forest, in which the states and municipal bodies that develop better Municipal Forest will be rewarded.
