The Ministry of Civil Aviation has encouraged various ministries to encourage and promote the use of drones, including home affairs, health, defence, information, and broadcasting. This follows Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's remarks on facilitating 'Drone Shakti' through a carried applications and for Drone-as-a-Service (DrAAS). She also mentioned 'Kisan Drones' for crop evaluation, land digitisation, insecticide and nutrient spraying, and dubbed Geospatial Systems and Drones a rising sector.
Drones offer great benefits to industries such as agriculture, medicine delivery, mining, infrastructure, surveillance, emergency response, transportation, geospatial mapping, defence and law enforcement, according to the aviation ministry.
"Use of drones in zones indicated red and yellow on the drone airspace map zones requires approval from the Central Government and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) authority, respectively, according to the Drone Rules, 2021. It stated that "no permit is required to fly a drone in a green zone, which is where the majority of drone operations now occur."
