Due to a technical glitch with the GST system, the government announced on Tuesday that it is considering extending the April tax payment deadline and has asked Infosys to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Infosys reported a technical glitch in the creation of April 2022 GSTR-2B and auto-population of GSTR3B on the site to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). "The government has asked Infosys to resolve the issue quickly. The technical team is striving to get GSTR2B and correct auto-populated GSTR-3B out as soon as possible "CBIC issued a tweet.

GSTR-2B is an auto-drafted Input Tax Credit (ITC) statement available to all GST registered firms based on the information provided by their suppliers in their respective GSTR-1 sales return form. Companies often receive their GSTR-2B statement on the 12th day of the following month, allowing them to claim ITC while paying taxes and completing GSTR-3B. GSTR-3B is filed in three parts on the 20th, 22nd, and 24th of each month for various tax payer categories.

The CBIC tweeted, "Considering the difficulties faced by taxpayers in reporting their GSTR-3B for the month of April 2022, a proposal to extend the due date of filing GSTR-3B for the month of April 2022 is under active consideration."
