Govt pardons 183 prisoners on the eve of 72th Republic Day

Prior to Republic day, 26 January, the Union Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra, made a big announcement regarding the jailed prisoners. The minister said that on January 26, on the occasion of Republic Day, it has been decided to release 183 prisoners serving life sentences in various jails of the state.

In fact, today on the occasion of National Girl Child Day, Home Minister Narottam Mishra had arrived in Datia to attend the Women's Honor Ceremony organised by the Department of Women's Child Development and Madhya Pradesh Police, where he said that on January 26, in various jails of the state on the occasion of Republic Day It has been decided to release 183 detainees serving life sentences.

No exemption in punishments for convicts who are undergoing jail term in atrocities against women and POSCO Act will be done. Before this, Narottam Mishra has taken many decisions regarding the detainees of the jail. The parole of prisoners has been increased several times during the Coronas crisis and lockdown.

India will mark its 72nd Republic Day now, however, it will be the first to be organized amid the covid-19 pandemic which means celebrations will take place with many changes, including a shorter route for the parade and much less public participation in the event. The ceremonial parade will start as usual at 9:45 am with the Presidential Guard escorting President Ram Nath Kovind from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the saluting dias.
