New Delhi: Many things are going to change for students and their families after the Centre's Modi government amended the education policy. Meanwhile, ambedkar University is going to abolish its policy of 100% fee waiver of Delhi, SC, ST and PWD (persons with disability) categories from the existing academic session 2020-21. The university will now provide fee concession on the basis of income certificate.

According to sources, it is a "proposed policy", which will be taken up by September 8 after completion of formal procedures. However, Ambedkar University had adhered to its unique policy of waiving the full fees of reserved categories by last year. But, from this year, this policy is being amended. The rules of the state and the central government have been pointed out due to the change. Now, 100% concession will be given only to students whose gross annual family income is below Rs 3 lakh per annum.

Let us tell you that first this income slab is SC/2018. ST/ PWD was not for students. But now it will not be differentiated on the basis of category. However, full concession for existing students will continue. The university's PR office informed that there is a difference between reservation and financial assistance. Now, it is being linked to income. All SC/ST ST students who fall under the income criteria will get 100% fee waiver.
