New Delhi: Today, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the General Budget for the financial year 2021-2022. Many big announcements were made in the areas of health, education, and defense. In this financial year 2021-22, the government has set a target of spending Rs 4.39 lakh crore. This time the budget of the health sector has been increased from 94 thousand crores to 2.38 lakh crores.
Along with this, the agricultural cess has been imposed on petrol and diesel. Agricultural cess has been imposed at the rate of Rs 2.50 per liter on petrol and Rs 4 per liter on diesel. However, this will not affect customers purchasing fuel. It is being told that the government is trying to extract the profits made during the Corona period from the pockets of the oil companies.
Along with the imposition of agricultural cess on petrol and diesel, the basic excise duty (BED) and special additional excise duty (SAED) have been reduced. Due to this, the burden of agricultural cess will not be on the customers. Now Unbranded Petrol and Diesel will attract BED of Rs 1.4 and Rs 1.8 per liter respectively. At the same time, SAED on unbranded petrol and diesel has been reduced to Rs 11 and Rs 8 per liter respectively.
