NEW DELHI: Multiple incentives and allowances offered to All India Service Officers for posting in the North-East states have been revoked by the Cental Government.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) issued in a letter that the special incentives and allowances being given to AIS officers stationed in the North East States be revoked with immediate effect. Each and every State chief secretary has received a copy of the letter.
It said that the All India Service Officers' additional financial incentives would be removed. The extra financial benefit was implemented in 2009.
Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Forest Service make up the AIS (IFS). Officers from the joint Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Sikkim, Nagaland, Tripura, and Manipur cadres were entitled to a special allowance of an additional 25% basic pay as well as a few other benefits for posting in the Northeast, following a previous DoPT directive.
According to the letter, the post-retirement housing option for officers in NE cadres, which was introduced in 2007, would be discontinued.
The incentive to refund Tribal All India Service personnel from the North-East Cadres for income tax that was due while on central deputation has been eliminated, per the directive.
Moreover, the 2017 consolidation of the order on flexible inter-cadre deputation for officers of NE cadres has also been discontinued.
