New Delhi: At a CEO business interactive session in Rome, Italy, India's trade minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the country's commercial and investment potential by claiming that it is "open" with "global links" and currently in trade discussions with the European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Speaking at the Gala Dinner in Rome among the presence of Indian and Italian Business leaders, Goyal said that India Offers Oasis of Opportunity For Better Life... India as the voice of the less developed countries, has been at the forefront of not only providing a better life for our people but also contributing to a better future for people in other parts of the world.
In the India-Italy partnership, Goyal emphasised the need for ambitious goals, emphasising the recently elevated Strategic Partnership and a 55% increase in Indian exports over the previous two years. He mentioned that there are about 700 Italian businesses operating in India and pledged to implement a strong, forward-looking policy framework free of backward-looking adjustments.
Antonio Tajani, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Italy, joined in on the celebration and urged cooperation to promote industry and MSMEs to build a better future for both nations. Goyal commended Tajani's involvement and noted the partnership between India and Italy had room to improve. He asserted that the traditions, cultures, shared values, rule of law, and aspirations for greater success and cooperation bind the two nations together.
The two ministers concurred that the two countries had similar goals and values, and Goyal promised that they will "grow together, achieve together, and conquer together."
