Grimes, 33, took to Instagram after uploading photos of herself reading the Communist Manifesto to clarify that she was attempting to troll the media while pretending to read the book. Grimes said on her social media platform that her famous post-breakup photograph was a method for her to avoid the paparazzi from following her.

“When the paparazzi wouldn't stop following me, I was really stressed,” Grimes said in an Instagram update. She said, "I knew it was chance to troll." Grimes went on to say that she and Elon Musk are still together and that she is not a communist. “Full transparency” I'm still living with e and I'm not a communist (although there are some very smart ideas in this book -but personally I'm more interested in a radically decentralized ubi that I think could potentially be achieved through crypto and gaming but I haven't ironed out that idea out enough to explain it yet,” Grimes wrote. 

Grimes is seen reading The Communist Manifesto in the photograph in question. She made it clear that she wasn't taking a dig at her ex-husband, Musk. Grimes has encouraged her followers to send her ‘meme' suggestions for the next time she's followed by photographers. She also discussed her political ideas, saying that "the political systems" that inspire her the most "are yet to be implemented."

Elon Musk had already declared his semi-separation with Grimes in a statement to Page Six. “It's mostly because my work at SpaceX and Tesla needs me to be based in Texas or travel internationally, whereas hers is based in Los Angeles. He said, "She's staying with me now, and Baby X is in the neighbouring room."
