In the case that came out from Patna in Bihar, a few minutes after exchanging the garland with the bride, the groom was shot. He later died in hospital while his brother, who also suffered injuries, is still undergoing treatment. The incident took place in the border of the Shahpur police station area.
According to sources, the victim was identified as Satyendra Kumar. Satyendra was scheduled to be married on Sunday. At about 10 o'clock, Barat reached the bride's house. Meanwhile, just minutes after the couple allegedly wore Varmala, the groom's friends took to the stage and started dancing.
According to a media report, one of the groom's friends pulled out the gunman on the platform and started firing in the air. Three such bullets were misfired, and one of them hit the groom and his brother when he was trying to clean up the bullets trapped in the barrel.
Soon after the incident, the victims were taken to a local hospital in Danapur where Kumar succumbed to his injuries at around 6 am on Monday morning. His brother is still undergoing treatment and is battling for his life. Danapur Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ashok Mishra said that they have not been able to identify who the culprit was. The accused is currently absconding.
