New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other jawans died in a helicopter crash in Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu last Wednesday. Let me tell you that a total of 14 people were on board the Mi-Series helicopter  that crashed between Coimbatore and Sulur. However, only one of them is survived.

The injured group captain Varun Singh is said to be undergoing treatment at an Army hospital in Wellington. Recently, Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a relative of Group Captain Varun Singh and a Congress leader, said that he (Varun Singh) underwent some surgery last night and was then shifted to icu ward (military hospital in Wellington). Doctors say the next 48 hours are important. Let me tell you all that about the incident in the Lok Sabha today, the Defence Minister said, "Some locals saw the remains of the helicopter surrounded by flames in the forest near Coonoor. A rescue team from the local administration rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation and rushed people to the hospital. Out of a total of 14 people on board the helicopter, 13 people were killed. On the other hand, AAP leader Sanjay Singh also expressed grief.

He said, "I extend my condolences to CDS Bipin Rawatji, his wife and others. It is a matter of concern as to how such an incident took place on such a safe aircraft. The PM and the Defence Minister will definitely take some steps to find out why the incident took place. At the same time, students of a school in Jammu paid homage to 11 others including CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife. Meanwhile, a student said, "We cannot forget what they have done for India. Their departure is a great loss to us. This is a tragic incident for our country. Let me tell you that the mortal remains of those who lost their lives in the accident are being taken from madras regiment centre to Sulur.
