Soon, the Carlyle Group will buy 25% stake in Airtel's data center business Nxtra Data for $ 235 million (Rs 1,780 crore). The company gave this information on Wednesday. After completion of this deal, Carlyle's stake in Nxtra will be 25%. Airtel will hold the remaining 75% stake. A statement issued by Bharti Airtel said, "Bharti Airtel and Comfort Investments have announced an agreement today. Under this, Comfort Investments will invest $ 23.5 million in Nextra Data Limited. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airtel and is involved in the data center business. Comfort Investments Investment Fund Manager is an affiliated entity of Cap v Mauritius Ltd, which is managed by entities affiliated with The Carlyle Group.

Nxtra is headquartered in New Delhi and the company provides data center services to top Indian and global companies, startups, small and medium industries, and governments. The same statement issued by the company said, "Nxtra provides customers with a nationwide portfolio of 10 big data centers and more than 120 edge data centers to provide co-location services, cloud infrastructure, managed hosting, data backup, disaster." It provides services for recovery and remote infrastructure.

In its statement, the company said that the demand for secure data centers in India has increased significantly as companies are working towards digital transformation and consumer demand for digital services is going to increase. This statement further states that Nxtra is building several big data centers to capitalize on the remarkable growth opportunities in the country. The company has said, "Last year the company started a data center in Pune and is building more data centers in Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Nxtra will use the proceeds from this deal to expand its infrastructure across the country.
