AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board on Thursday announced that there will be a general option instead of keeping an internal option so far as descriptive answers are concerned in examinations for 2020-21 for Class 9 to 12 students.
The Gujarat board has decided to offer the relaxation of granting general option in tests in secondary section due to the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, it has been decided to increase the portion of multiple-choice questions from 20% to 30% this year for students of Class 9-11 in general and science streams.
The ratio of MCQ and descriptive questions will be 30:70 for this year. It has communicated its decision of the changes in the examination method to all district education officers and other concerned authorities.
The board had earlier decided to do away the system of 50% multiple-choice questions for Class 12 science examinations but has now decided to retain the system for one more year.
