Three Congress MLAs have been suspended following the ruckus in Gujarat Assembly on Wednesday. Lawmakers Ambrish Der and Pratap Dudhat have been suspended for three years while another MLA has been suspended for one year.

Earlier in the day, Gujarat state assembly turned into a fight club on Wednesday, when MLAs indulged into violence and resorted to slap and kick each other. The lawmakers also exchanged expletives.

Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel raised a point in the assembly to which Congress MLA Vikram Madaan wanted to speak but was denied by the speaker. Madaan was relentless and was suspended from the assembly by the speaker.

Following which, another Congress MLA Amrish Der protested the suspension and supported him.  Meanwhile, BJP MLA Jagdish Panchal commented on Der which offended him and the latter went to the Well of the house, broke the mic and threw it at Panchal.

Panchal, however, said he did not comment on Der while Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor accused Der of abusing Panchal.

Following the incident, Amrish Der was surrounded by BJP MLAs and was kicked and slapped the Congress lawmaker.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel has condemned the incident and slammed Congress leaders for creating chaos in the assembly.

“What happened in Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is shameful. Congress MLA not only insulted the speaker but also became violent in the house. House has been adjourned currently, once the session resumes we'll decide what action needs to be taken,” said Nitin Patel.

The assembly was adjourned following the ruckus. Patel said that decision regarding action against the accused lawmakers will be taken once the session resumes
