Ahmedabad: Gujarat's Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has banned stalls selling non-vegetarian food along the roads since Tuesday (November 16, 2021). The Town Planning Committee of the AMC said that stalls selling non-veg food along public roads within 100 metres from schools, colleges and religious places will not be allowed.

According to media reports, Town Planning Committee chief Dewang Dani said the ban will come into effect from Tuesday. He said there were several complaints from the people of the city about the stall. In view of these complaints, the decision has been taken in the planning committee meeting. On the ban, CM Bhupendra Patel has said that people are free to eat anything as per their wishes. CM Patel said, "It is not a question of being a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian. People are free to eat whatever they want. But the food sold at the stall should not be harmful and it should not disrupt traffic''. 

CM Patel said action may be taken against stalls that may be selling poor-quality food or obstructing the traffic system. He further said that some people eat vegetarian food and some eat non-vegetarians, the BJP government has no problem with it. Our concern is only about the quality of food available at these places.
