Ahmedabad: In Gujarat, adjoining the Arabian Sea, fishermen from neighbouring Pakistan continue to be arrested when they cross the Indian border. One such recent case has come to light from the Sir Creek area. The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a Pakistani fisherman and seized three Pakistani fishing boats.
According to the public relations office of the BSF Gujarat Frontier, the Pakistani fishermen managed to escape to the Pak territory by taking advantage of the mud and marshy terrain in the Sir Creek area. In fact, there is no clear demarcation of the maritime boundary in the Arabian Sea. In such a situation, the fishermen inference enter the border of another country. Similarly, in the latest case, some Pakistani fishermen had entered the Indian border.
Recently, Pakistani maritime security agency personnel had opened fire on a fishing boat in the Arabian Sea in the offshore area of Gujarat, killing one crew member and injuring another one.
