Gujarat CM sanctions Rs 74.70 cr for road maintenance work in Municipal areas

Ahmedabad: Under the scheme  'Mukhyamantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana',  Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has sanctioned Rs 74.70 crores for repairing roads and road resurfacing works following heavy rains in the state, informed Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Tuesday. The fund will also be used for plastic road paint, curb paint, street light and road safety works.

The work is undertaken in the light of heavy rains in the state during this monsoon,  damaged roads in urban areas, resurfacing as well as road repairs to enhance civic amenities. As per the CMO, it has been also decided to allocate this amount for thermoplastic road paint, curbs paint, street light board and road safety works.

Each of 22 municipalities designated as Class A will avail Rs. 75 lakh, and each of B class will get 60 lakh while Class C municipalities will get Rs. 45 lakh each. A total of 156 municipalities are expected to start work under the scheme.
