First 'horse racing' competition held in Gujarat after recognition of Kutch Sindhi horse

Ahmedabad: After the recognition of the Kutchi Sindhi horse, the first horse race competition was organized in the desert. There are 7 recognized breeds of horses in India, out of which Kutchi Sindhi horse has been recognized as the 7th breed. The competition was organized by the Government of Gujarat and the Central Government, under the National Live Stock Mission, by Sahajeevan and Ramraheem Kachhi Sindhi Horsepower Cooperative Society.

In the Vekriya Desert, a horse race was organized in collaboration with the Government of India for the first time in which Kutchi Sindhi equestrians other than Kutch participated in various competitions. In which the competition of Ramraheem Kachhi Sindhi Horsepower Cooperative Society was encouraged, for this special elected representatives and Director of Animal Husbandry Department were also involved. In which, for the first time a fair was also organized to take the horse breed of Sindhi Kutchi like a buffalo. Vasan Ahir also rides a horse himself.

Kachchi Sindhi breed horses are found in Barmer, Rajasthan in addition to Kutch. Its number is 3136. For its conservation and promotion, the shepherds of Kutch formed the Ramraheem Kutchi Sindhi Horsepower Cooperative Society in 2008 and competitions were held at several places in Kutch where awareness of the Kutchi Sindhi breed of horses has increased in Kutch.
