Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court can today pronounce its verdict on the petition of Zakia Jafri in the 2002 riots. The petition was filed against the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others for giving a clean chit on behalf of the lower court. Zakia Jafri is the wife of late Congress leader Ehsaan Jafri.
The petitioners have demanded fresh scrutiny. In the petition, Modi and 60 others have been demanded to be accused of creating criminal conspiracy about the riots.The hearing of the case was completed on July 3.
The court heard the petition on Juphari and social activist Teesta Setalvad's re-petition on 'Citizen for Justice and Peace'. In the petition, the trial court has challenged the order of the Special Court (SIT) to justify the clean chit for 56 people, including Narendra Modi, in connection with the alleged criminal conspiracy behind the 2002 riots.
What is the whole matter?
Narendra Modi got a clean chit from the Ahmedabad court in the December riots in the month of December 2013 in the case of Gujarat riots. There were riots in Gujarat in 2002. More than one thousand people died in these riots. Modi was chief minister during the riots Congress leader Ehsaan Jafri was killed in this attack.
