Gujrat girl and three others underwent organ transplantation surgery

Four lives was saved by the organs donated by a 31-year-old Dadar resident’s family and the heart airlifted from pune, in the last 48 hours.

On Monday, the family of Rohan Ramchandra Chaubal agreed to donate his organs after he suffered a “massive right-sided cerebral bleeding”. He was admitted at the Shushrusha Hospital in Dadar where he was operated upon, but did not recover and was later declared clinically brain dead. The doctors counselled the family to consider donating his organs.

The Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee contacted P D Hinduja Hospital that sent a cardiac ambulance, moved Mr Chaubal to its facility and harvested his kidneys, lung and also skin, as the hopital is not registered as a transplant or a retrieval centre.

The liver and kidneys of Mr. Chaubal’s were harvested. The liver was sent to Global Hospital and transplanted into a 58-year-old.

One kidney was transplanted into a 26-year-old man at Hinduja hospital itself and another was sent to Jaslok hospital where it was transplanted into a 30-year-old male.

On Tuesday morning, another life was saved when a girl from Ankleshwar,Gujarat who was suffering from Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and was admitted at Fortis Hospital got a heart from Pune.
