Srinagar: The leader of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir met at the residence of party chief and former CM Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar. The present situation in Jammu and Kashmir will be discussed during the meeting and a comprehensive discussion on the road ahead. PAGD is an alliance of six mainstream political parties demanding restoration of the special situation in Jammu and Kashmir, which was repealed by the Centre in August 2019.

Talking about the meeting yesterday, a leader said that the meeting will be held at 11 am at coalition president Farooq Abdullah's residence in Gupkar. He had said that ''this meeting would be different from the earlier meeting. This time not only the top leadership of the constituent parties has been invited for consultation, but the mid-level leadership has also been called."  The leader further said that selecting party leaders for the meeting has been left to coalition parties.

"Participants will be from all corners of the Valley and we hope that about 150-200 leaders will participate in the meeting," he said, noting that the meeting has been convened to brainstorm on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and "discuss various issues comprehensively." He said ''this meeting will discuss the way forward and this is the first such attempt in the Kashmir Valley by the coalition to get a comprehensive view on the issues. We wanted such talks before, but the meeting continued to be carried forward due to covid.''
