In yet another shocking incident, a 13-year-old Dalit girl from Narela in north Delhi was allegedly raped and killed by a relative of her landlord in neighbouring Gurgaon. The girl's father stated in an FIR filed with the police, "My landlord's wife informed me on July 17 that her sister-in-law had given birth to a kid and that she was bringing my daughter to her brother's house in Gurgaon. She also stated that my daughter would be staying there and would be able to play with her brother's daughter."

The father was notified by his landlord about 3 p.m. on August 23 that his daughter had died, according to the FIR. Around 7 pm, they took the body in a private ambulance to the girl's Narela residence for cremation, it added. The police said that landlady's brother Praveen Verma has been arrested on the complaint of the girl's father who made a PCR call when the accused allegedly tried to force the family to cremate the body.

When the father became suspicious, he called police station in Narela, who arrived on scene and sent the body to the Babu Jagjivan Ram hospital in Jahangirpuri, according to the FIR. In the FIR, the father claims that his daughter was murdered by the landlady's brother, Praveen Verma, and others. The Gurgaon Police Department stated it has filed a case under the Indian Penal Code's sections 302 (murder) and 120B (penalty of criminal conspiracy) as well as the SC/ST Act. They said that after the postmortem report proved sexual assault and Verma was detained, further sections were added to the FIR.
