The remake of the well-known TV show 'Ramayana' is being re-aired on Dangal TV, while Ram was played by Gurmeet Chaudhary in 'Ramayana', while Sita was played by his wife Debina Banerjee. This Ramayana is also produced by Sagar Arts. Gurmeet Chaudhary told a media reporter that 'Ramayan' is very close to my heart. First it was my first show with Debina (Gurmeet's wife). We will be the first actors who married in real life after playing such an iconic character. When we both see our Ramayana today, it brings back old memories. In today's time, it is very important to watch such a mathematical show, there is a lot to learn in this. Now that we all have got time, it should not be lost.

One cannot deny that the audience is divided because Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana was also telecast again. Our Ramayana and old Ramayana have been made by the same production house, so the emotions and story are also the same. The only difference is in technology. The VFX and special effects of our show are quite good and there is a little detailing too. During the shooting of the show, we did not know much about its popularity. After a month and a half, people started messaging us, then we realized that our show has become a hit. People used to keep the photo of Mary and Debina near the photo of God in their temple. We were only 21 years old and people considered us God.

When you go out, people would touch our feet and stop paying money, in which 101, 501, 1001 rupees were given auspiciously. After 'Ramayana', we have to play the role of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and many Gods. Offered but we declined. Our industry very quickly casts what we did not want. For about 6 months, me and Debina rejected the work so that we could do something different. We were quite young and did not want to be part of the costume drama. We did not want to be type cast. It was a tough phase at that time, but it was the best decision of our career. I was shooting for my upcoming film 'The Wife' in Jaipur, however due to this lockdown, we had to stop our shooting. We are all awaiting the end of this lockdown so that we can resume our work.
