Panchkula: Dera Sacha Sauda chief and self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is found guilty for the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati. A special CBI court on Friday  announced its verdict in the case where the  Ram rahim was named as the prime accused. The sentencing will be pronounced on Thursday, January 17.

Ram Rahim, the head of the Sirsa-based sect is already serving a 20-year sentence for raping two 'sadhvis' or female followers in 2002. Following his conviction in of Ram Rahim in August 2017, riots broke out in Panchkula and many places of north India.  The sect chief was present for the sentencing via video-conferencing from the Sunaria jail.

 All four including Dera carpenters Nirmal Singh and Kuldeep Singh who shot Journalist, Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and Krishan Lal who owned the gun which was used in the killing have been convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula.

Ram Chander Chhatrapati was the editor of a regional evening daily 'Poora Such' was shot dead at point-blank range on October 24, 2002. An investigation into the matter revealed that he was by two carpenters who were associated with the religious sect led by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
