A special CBI judge on Thursday, in Panchkula punished Dera Sacha Sauda head and MSG, Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He has been awarded a life sentence for the murder of a journalist. The journalist belonged to Sirsa.
 Along with him,  Dera manager Krishan Lal and two Dera carpenters Kuldeep Singh and Nirmal Singh have also been awarded the same punishment in the murder case.
As Soon per the reports, In 2002, editor of Poora Asch newspaper, Ram Chander Chhatrapati was killed by  Ram Rahim and his colleagues.  Dera Chief Ram Rahim  was sent to Rohtak's Sunaria jail in 2017. The verdict bwas given through ba video conference.
The Dera cheif has also been accused of raping two women devotees at his ashram and was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for such a  crime. CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh declared region’s first ever E-verdict in the case. Ram Rahim and his colleagues have been punished  under 302 (Punishment for murder), 120 B (Criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code and under the arms act as well. As per the information provided, Chhatrapati was killed by the carpenters on the order of the Dera Chief Ram Rahim as he was writing articles in his newspaper against him.
