Lathicharge on protesting farmers turns situation tense in Karnal

Chandigarh: The protest over Karnal lathicharge has become violent. Chadhuni group has also convened a meeting today over lathicharge on farmers. Gurnam Singh has also attended the Farmers' Mahapanchayat held at Grain Mandi in Karnal. Meanwhile, Gurnam Singh Chadhuni said that the farmer who died was killed due to police lathicharge.

Gurnam Singh said, "When we spoke to the family members of the deceased, it was found that the farmer had a back injury to his head and his stomach was also swollen. The person who has a heart attack. His stomach never swells. Gurnam Singh also said that farmers were not being allowed to go to the hospital and the farmers who had rushed to the hospital for treatment were sent home after first aid." The national anthem was played before the Kisan panchayat started at Gharaunda in Karnal and a 2-minute silence was observed in honor of the farmer who died in Raipur village. Many farmer leaders have reached this Mahapanchayat. Several leaders including Gurnam Singh Chadhuni, Baldev Singh Sirsa, Satnam Singh Bhairu have reached there and other farmer leaders are also continuing to reach.

Gurnam Singh Chadhuni reached the meeting and said that a decision on how to take the agitation forward will be taken today. We will strategize on lathicharge on farmers. There is no demand from the government also, but they will demand action against the officials guilty of lathicharge.
