Today is the death anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Guru of the Sikhs, which is celebrated as Martyrdom Day. Guru Tegh Bahadur was martyred on 24 November 1675 and according to some historians Guru Tegh Bahadur was martyred on 11 November 1675. It is said that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb had beheaded Guru Tegh Bahadur and Aurangzeb wanted Sikh Guru to accept Islam but Guru Tegh Bahadur refused it.

Guru Tegh Bahadur is also called as "Hind Di Chadar". Let us tell you that the place where Guru Tegh Bahadur beheaded by the Mughal Emperor is located at the same place in Delhi today, Shishganj Gurudwara and Guru Tegh Bahadur was born on 18 April 1621 in Amritsar. At the same time, his real name was Tyag Mal and he got the name Teg Bahadur after showing his incomparable valor against the Mughal army in the "Battle of Kartarpur". With this, on 16 April 1664, he became the ninth Guru to the Sikhs and Guru Tegh Bahadur began his feud with the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb to the Kashmiri Pandits. It is said that the Kashmiri Pandits were forcibly opposing the Mughal rule and requested Guru Tegh Bahadur to protect them. In such a situation, Guru Tegh Bahadur took him under his control and the Mughal emperor was very angry with this.

At the same time, in July 1675, Guru Tegh Bahadur left Delhi from Anandpur with three other disciples and according to historians, Guru Tegh Bahadur was arrested by the Mughal army in July 1875. He was then imprisoned in Delhi for three-four months, and was brought to Delhi, the capital of the Mughal Sultanate, and it is believed that Guru Tegh Bahadur was brought to Delhi on November 4, 1675, and the Mughal emperor took Guru Asked Tegh Bahadur to choose one of death or accepting Islam. It is said that when Guru Tegh Bahadur did not accept Islam, Aurangzeb killed him.
