Assam police squad in detained two Nigerian nationals on Saturday for carrying 20 grammes of suspected cocaine, as part of a crackdown on drugs.

According to a police source, the two were arrested after receiving specific information about two suspects travelling on the Rajdhani Express from Delhi to Guwahati. An operation was begun based on the input, and the two were tracked. When the police searched them, they found 20 grammes of suspected cocaine. They were supposed to take the consignment to Shillong.

Both were recognised as Nigerian citizens who were residing in India under fake documents.  Emmanuel Enuma Dike and Ifeanyi Charles Okuakaj have been recognised. When the police checked their documents, they discovered that Ifeanyi Charles Okuakaj did not have a valid visa. Both of them have been apprehended, and an inquiry has been started to trace down their associates.
