Lucknow: The court of District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha has given a big verdict in the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi mosque case in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday (September 12). The court has held the petition filed seeking the right to worship in Shringar Gauri as maintainable. On behalf of the Hindu side, there was a demand to allow regular worship at other religious places including Shringar Gauri located in the Gyanvapi complex.

At the same time, the Muslim side had sought dismissal of the case, arguing in the court that the petition was not maintainable. Now the court has said in its decision that the matter can be heard under Order 07 Rule 11 of the Code of Civil Procedure. The court has held the petition filed seeking the right to worship in Shringar Gauri as maintainable.

In August last year, five women filed a petition before the Varanasi Civil Judge (Senior Division). In this, he had demanded to allow worship and darshan every day in the Shringar Gauri temple located next to the Gyanvapi mosque. On the petition of the women, the civil judge also conducted a survey of the Gyanvapi campus. Later, on the orders of the apex court, the case was transferred from the civil judge's court to the district court. The matter will now come up for hearing on September 22.
