Varanasi: A court-mandated videography assessment of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, began for the third day on Monday amid heavy security. However, there are still concerns about filming inside the compound.
As of May 15, over 65% of the survey had been completed. All routes leading to Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Gyanvapi Mosque have been sealed, and security has been increased in the area to prevent any untoward incidents. Pedestrians were also prohibited from crossing the road between Maidagin and Godowlia.

On the third day, the Court commission is performing the Gyanvapi mosque survey. On Sunday, Varanasi District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma informed all parties that the survey work will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday and that they should remain present. "This is absolutely an archaeological survey work," Madan Mohan Yadav, the Hindu side's counsel, said on Sunday. "Because the advocates were not familiar with the survey work, the process took some time."

A local court is hearing a petition by five Hindu women seeking year-round access to pray at a Hindu shrine behind the western wall of the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi, which is near to the famed Kashi Vishwanath temple.
