New Delhi: During the hearing in the controversial Gyanvapi complex case in Varanasi, the city of Ba Baa Vishwanath, the Supreme Court said that it will wait for the verdict of the district court of Varanasi. The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing till the first week of October. The court was hearing a petition filed by the Anjuman Intezamia Muslim side. The mosque committee had challenged the survey of the commission set up by the court.

The hearing in the Gyanvapi Mosque-Makeup Gauri case is going on in the district court. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and P S Narasimha was hearing the matter in the apex court. The court said that even after the lower court's decision, legal options will remain open. The court flatly refused to hear two other petitions.

One of the two petitions that the Supreme Court refused to hear was seeking the right to worship the Shivling found in the mosque premises. The second petition had sought carbon dating of the 'Shivling'. On May 17, the Supreme Court directed the Varanasi district judge to provide security to the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi-Makeup Gauri complex. Muslims were allowed to pray in the mosque.
