NEW DELHI:  26/11, 2008 Mumbai attacks instigator and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) person in command Hafiz Saeed has lodged a petition in the United Nations, demanding his name to be removed from the list of global terrorists.

Hafiz Saeed, who is also the co-organizer of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), lodged the petition in UN through a Lahore-based law firm even as he was at a halt under house arrest.

Hafiz Saeed was tagged as a global terrorist by the UN under the Security Council Resolution Act 1267 in December 2008, aheading the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in which 164 people, including six Americans, were taken life. The USA imposed a bounty of $10 million on his head for terror campaigning.

Before three days of 26/11 anniversary, Saeed was freed by Pakistan after being under house arrest for 297 days. His release was lauded a global uproar.

With the bundle of annoyance on Saeed’s release, the Ministry of External Affairs said, "India, as well as definitely the whole International community, is annoyed that a self-confessed and a UN restricted terrorist is being permitted to walk free and go on with  his evil agenda."

The White House also predestined his release, asking for his instantaneous re-arrest and prosecution. The US further said there will be not at all good consequences for US-Pakistan relations unless Islamabad took action to keep in custody and charge Saeed.
