Lahore: 48 hours before the 26/11anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Pakistan set free the instigator of the attack and Jamaat ud Daawa leader Hafiz Saeed, early on Thursday evening.

Saeed had been under house arrest for the past 10 months since January but was set free after the Pakistan government decided to not keep in custody him further in links with any case against him.

The JuD chief carries a bounty of $10 million declared by the United States of America for his connection with terror-related activities.

In a moment after he was freed from his house arrest in Lahore, Saeed declared that he will get together people across Pakistan for the "cause of Kashmir" and help the Kashmiris secure "freedom".

"I was in custody for 10 months only to stop my voice for Kashmir," Saeed, who has been branded as an international terrorist by the United Nations and the US, said his followers.

He even aired a video message shortly after his release, claiming that India’s allegation in opposition to him was “false”. He used the release order to support his claims of "innocence".

According to a BBC report, he said, "India has always levied allegations of terrorism ... but Lahore High Court decision has proved that all of India's propaganda is false.”

The JuD chief told that the US, on India's request, pressured Pakistan to arrest him.

Raveesh Kumar, representative, Ministry of External Affairs, said a press briefing that Saeed was not just the instigator but also the prime organizer of the Mumbai terror attacks in November 2008.

“His release confirms once again the lack of sincerity on the part of Pakistan to get to justice the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack,” the representative said.
