Lina Nandan, the secretary of the affairs of the customer told on Tuesday that there is plenty of supply of hand sanitizer and face mask in India. Because of which these goods are kept separate from the purview of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. This means that face masks and hand sanitizers are no longer necessary products. Earlier on 13 March, the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs declared both these items as essential items for 100 days. This step was taken by the government to stop hoarding of these items and boost supply.

In her statement, Nandan told PTI that, "Both these products were declared essential items till June 30. There is sufficient availability of these goods in the country, so we have not pushed this deadline further. ''

Apart from this, she said that a decision has been taken in this context after consulting the state governments which seems to be a wise decision. This decision is believed to be very important in the Corona era. Nandan said, "We have spoken with all the state governments and we have received information from them that both these items are in sufficient quantity. There is no problem with supply." Masks (2-ply and 3-ply surgical masks, N95 masks) and hand sanitizers were brought under the Essential Commodities Act to combat the corona crisis.
