New Delhi: Tuesday, May 17, 2016: The revelation which will embarrass the Congress, a news has said that Jaish-e-Muhammed terrorist Shahid Latif, coach of the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot air base in January 2015, was released by India in 2010 as part of the UPA government's try to mend binds with Pakistan.

As per the reports, “Latif, who was in Indian jails for 11 years on terrorism charges, was released on May 28, 2010by the Manmohan Singh government as a 'goodwill gesture'.”

The other 24 militants who belonging to Jaish-e0Muhammed,Lashkar-e-Toiba,Hizb-ul-Mujahideen were released with Latif that day and expelled to Pak.

Latif was freed although the fact that he was on Jaish's 'wish list' even when the Vajpayee government released Maulana Masood Azhar in replace for 154 passengers of IC-814. Meanwhile, the NDA government had declined to discharge him then.

The report adds that, “ Islamabad used guile to persuade Manmohan Singh government to release Pakistanis held on terror charges saying that their releases will create a conducive atmosphere for the two nations to settle their long-standing difference.”
