Hans Women FC clinched the opening football Delhi Women's Premier League 2021-22 title by defeating Signature FC in a penalty shootout in the final played at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday. Both the teams were tied 1-1 after the stipulated time due to which the match reached the penalty shootout.
Bhagwati has scored for Signature FC while Jyoti has scored for Hans Woman FC. A trophy and prize money of Rs 50,000 has also been given to the winning team. Whereas the runner up got an amount of Rs 25,000. Winning this title has qualified Hans Women FC for the Indian Women's League.
Earlier, Kolhapur's Aniket Yadav has been selected for the Indian senior football team, which is scheduled to play two friendly matches in Bahrain and Belarus to prepare for the qualification round of the AFC Asian Cup next year. A total of 38 potential players have been selected in the team including Aniket. It is noteworthy that midfielder Aniket has also been selected in India's Under-17 Youth World Cup team in 2017. He currently represents Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL).
