Bangalore: Shriram Sena chief Pramod Mutalik on Monday (May 9, 2022) launched a campaign to play Hanuman Chalisa and bhajans in temples in Mysore, Karnataka. From 5 a.m., Hanuman Chalisa and bhajans started playing in many temples of Karnataka. Pro-Hindu organisations have launched a campaign demanding action against loudspeakers installed in mosques. The drive has been launched in Vijayanagar, Vijaypur, Mysore, and Belagavi districts on Monday.

Shri Ram Sena chief Pramod Mutalik had appealed to the Hanuman Chalisa recitation and bhajans to be played in more than 1,000 temples in Karnataka from the morning of May 9. He had alleged that the government has failed to take action against installing loudspeakers in mosques. He said that from 5 am today, the workers of Shri Ram Sena have started playing Hanuman Chalisa or devotional songs in many temples across the state. Earlier, Shri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik had on Sunday announced that Hanuman Chalisa will be recited from 5 am in more than 1000 temples of the state from May 9. The announcement was made as a mark of protest against the loudspeakers installed in the mosques.

Mutalik said that in the first phase, the Shri Ram Sena will launch a campaign to play Hanuman Chalisa/Good morning/bhajan in the temples at 5 am and in the next phase, the move will be taken at the other time of Azaan. "We are doing it in the morning because as per the court's verdict, the mic or speaker cannot be used from 10 pm to 6 am, but they are using it at 5 am. So, we will also violate this rule and warn the government. Our fight is not against offering Azaan or namaz in mosques but against the use of loudspeakers. '
