The court made the remarks on the iconic 108-feet tall Hanuman statue in central Delhi's Karol Bagh area. "Will prayers reach the God if you pray against illegal encroachments on pavements? What is its holiness," a bench of acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar questioned?

The court declared a strict notice by stating whoever was responsible for unauthorized constructions, which involves the temple, would be “dealt with”. The court moreover directed the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, who has authority in the area, to report records regarding the road and the pavement, adjoining the temple, on which illegal encroachments have come up.

The court, meanwhile, asked the jurisdiction of the trust to run and maintain a temple on DDA land. Many requests have been filed in the Delhi High Court in contact with illegal constructions and encroachments in Karol Bagh area of Delhi. Last month, the court had suggested the local authorities to ponder over "airlifting" of the Hanuman statue in order to remove encroachments around it

Keeping in mind that commercial activities and car parking had been allowed in the area, the court told it would take action against the corporation as well as DDA officials under whose watch the statue and illegal encroachments sprung up.
