- Meenakshi started film career with Hindi / Telugu film 'Painter Babu' in the year 1983, but after the film's flop, Meenakshi had decided not to act in the future.

- Producer director Subhash Ghai cast Meenakshi in the movie 'Hero', the Jackie Shroff was cast, and the film proved to be Blockbuster hit due to which Meenakshi became superstar overnight.

- After the hero Meenakshi got filled with offers of films. Meenakshi, along with Rajesh Khanna, did a double role film 'Awara Baap', but she was disappointing at the box office.

- Meenakshi worked with Rajesh Khanna and Rajinikanth in the 1985 film "Faithfulness", which earned a lot of money.
