Alka Yagnik was born in a middle-class family in Kolkata and Alka Yagnik learnt classical music from her mother Shubha Yagnik and started singing from a young age after that. She sang bhajans for the first time on All India Radio and at that time whoever heard her voice became obsessed with her. In the year 1980, Alka sang her first song for the film 'Payal Ki Jhankar' and after that she has never looked back. Talking about her personal life, Alka Agninik has been living separately from her husband for the past 27 years. Yes, Alka married Neeraj Kapoor in the year 1989, but the two could not stay together for a long time.
