Today is the birthday of Bhiwani-born wrestler Babita Kumari Phogat. She was born on 20 November 1989. Her father Mahavir Phogat was fond of wrestling from the beginning and wanted his wife to have a son, but twice his wife had a daughter. He kept this sorrow inside for a long time, but suddenly his mind changed and he made his daughter as boys to get gold for the country. The daughters also make father's dream come true.

Babita's elder sister Geeta Phogat won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in 2010 in Delhi. Babita Kumari Phogat won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow in 2014. Earlier, she had won bronze at the World Wrestling Championships and silver in the CWG. So far Wrestler Babita has won a total of 7 medals in her career, including 4 Gold Medals, 2 Bronzes and a Silver Medal. She won a silver medal in the Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010, a bronze medal in the 2012 Strathcona County World Championships.

After that, she won gold medals in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth and 2018 Goldcoast. Babita also had to be content with a bronze medal in the Asian Championships held in 2013, while she won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Championships in 2009 (Jalandhar) and 2011 (Melbourne). After being away from the game, Babita stepped into politics but she lost the assembly elections.
