Politician Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, BJP stalwart and Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari is one of the most successful ministers of the Modi Cabinet today. He has also been the PwD Minister of Maharashtra and a lot of roads, highways and flyovers were constructed in the State during his tenure. He was made the party president in December 2009. Nitin Gadkari was born in a middle class Brahmin family in Nagpur district. In his teens, he worked for the Bharatiya Yuva Morcha and the BJP's student wing ABVP. Nitin was married to Kanchan Gadkari and has three children named Nikhil, Sarang and Ketki. He lives in Nagpur and his house is near the rashtriya swayamsevak sangh (RSS) headquarters. Nitin Gadkari served as pwD minister in the Maharashtra government from 1995 to 99. He has also served as the President of Maharashtra BJP.
When the issue of investment in infrastructure sector came up from private companies, they raised their voice in support of privatisation. In the next four years, 98 per cent of the total population of Maharashtra got road connectivity. This put an end to many of the problems of the people of the State. This gave road to villages that had been craving for roads since independence.

He has been the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Moreover, they have been associated with all the committees, institutions, organizations and government schemes. Nitin Gadkari does not consider himself a politician and likes to be called a businessman and industrialist. They are also deeply involved in agricultural activities. Recently, the BJP Central Government completed its four years in which Nitin Gadkari has topped the list while reviewing the work of all the ministers.
