Ashutosh Rana started his career with the show Swabhimaan which started in 1995. After which he made his film debut in 1996.

According to media reports, his movie Sanshodhan was released in 1996 in which he played the role of a clerk. After which he appeared in Tamanna and Krishna Arjun movie but he is yet to be recognized in the film, then he got good recognition from the 1998 movie Dushman. Ashutosh married Bollywood actress Renuka Shahane 18 years ago. The two dated each other for about two and a half years. Renuka was divorced at that time. Ashutosh has not only worked in Hindi but also in Bengali, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil movies. He has acted in about 14 movies in Telugu, 2 in Marathi, 2 in Kannada and about 6 in Tamil.
