Chennai: On February 24, 1948, history was witnessing the birth of a baby girl, who was one of the most powerful women in India, a skilled politician, a great actress and an unknown figure. This girl was 'Jayalalithaa Jayaram Iyer' who later became the inspiration of millions of people. Born in a Brahmin family of Mysore state, when her father died, Jayalalithaa was 2 years old and she moved with her mother to her maternal grandfather's home in Bangalore.

Her mother started working in films called 'Sandhya' to run her family and persuaded Jayalalithaa to work in films while studying school and Bharatanatyam. Jayalalithaa became the lead actress in Kannada films at the age of 15. After which she switched to Tamil films, and become the first actress to play a role in films wearing a skirt.

After doing around 300 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English, Jayalalithaa was re-born as 'Amma' when she joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (Anna DMK), MG Ramachandran. She started her political life but after the death of Ramachandran, Anna DMK split into two factions. The leader of one faction was MGR's widow Janaki Ramachandran and the other was Jayalalithaa. In 1991, he fought Congress and formed the government and became the youngest Chief Minister. In politics, she had a tough fight with DMK leader Karunanidhi, but still, Jayalalithaa became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu 3 times due to her personality and remained unmarried throughout her life and worked for the people there. On 5 December 2016, this influential woman died due to a heart attack, but she is still immortal in terms of her actions and thoughts.
