She divorced Ashok Thakeria in the year 1997. After the divorce, Poonam stays separated from her two children. Poonam has also been in 'Bigg Boss' Season 3, seen as a contestant. She was the second runner-up of Bigg Boss 3. Along with this, she worked in serials like 'Andaz' and 'Kitty Party'.
