BANGALORE: The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign to commemorate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' has been given the go-ahead by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

A statement from the Chief Minister's Office on Monday said that "it is expected to hang the flags on more than 1 crore residences in the state." Flag distribution is currently in progress.

According to the press release, "Chief minister Bommai  has directed officials to hoist the flags on August 13 to create a joyful ambiance to remember Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav." Bommai oversaw a video conference that was set up to go through the campaign's arrangements.He has given instructions to staff to run the campaign with fervour and regard for the nation. He recommended that officials strive toward meaningfully commemorating the tragedy.

Bommai has ordered the Chief Secretary to schedule another round of meeting with the district administrations.
He also said that from August 9 to August 14 freedom fighters must be honoured at their homes in the corresponding districts to commemorate the Quit India Movement. He also said, "To ccelebrate Quit India Movement, freedom fighters to be felicitated at their homes in the respective districts between 9th to 14th August. District-in-Charge ministers should also be a part of this."

Ministers Govind Karjol, Narayan Gowda, Sunil Kumar, Vandita Sharma, Chief Secretary, Rajaneesh Goyal, V. Sommanna, CC Patil. BC Patil, Araga Jnanendra, Anand Singh, ACS, N. Manjula, Secretary Kannada and Culture, Deputy Commissioners, ZP CEOs participated in the meeting.
