Ahmedabad: A day after resigning from the Congress party, Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Thursday said he has not given any thought to joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but has asked people not to vote for the Congress. He said the party has never talked about Hindus, the party only wants to do caste-based politics.

In the 2017 elections, Hardik Patel used to ask people for votes for the Congress, though he now said that people should not vote for the Congress. Patel further said that Congress never extended support on the issue of Hindus. Neither came out in the open on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) nor supported the 'Shivling' found in the mosque in Varanasi. Congress only knows the caste-based politics. I wasted three years at this party.

Hardik Patel had joined the Congress in 2019 and in 2020, he was made the working president of the Congress. Hardik Patel on Wednesday resigned from the Congress party. He wrote a one-page resignation. In it, Hardik Patel had also criticised senior Congress leaders. He had said that he hates Gujarat and Gujarati people. A BJP leader said that Hardik Patel is holding talks with the BJP.
