Today is the birthday of Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, who enthralled everyone with his flute tune, was born in Allahabad on July 1, 1938, but his childhood was spent in Banaras on the banks of the Ganges. Since childhood, he was inclined towards music, so when his father took him to the arena for wrestling, his mind was not there. Without his father's wishes, pandit learned the nuances of music from his neighbor Rajaram and then went to Varanasi Pandit Bholaram Prasanna to learn flute.

Noted flute player Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is one of the pinnacles of Indian classical music. Born on July 1, 1938, at the house of a wrestler, Chaurasia had a tendency in music from the very beginning. At the age of 15, he secretly began to learn music from his great-old pandit Rajaram.

Thereafter, he started the practice of learning flute from Pandit Bholanath Prasanna. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia started his career with All India Radio. Soon he teamed up with composer Shivakumar Sharma under the name Shiva-Hari and composed music in several movies. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia also composed music with many international musicians like John McLean, Jain Garbarek. He has also been honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awards by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution to the music world.
