Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that around 4,800 MBBS seats have been reserved for students belonging to economically weaker sections this year. The Union Minister said that during the two years, 24,698 seats have been increased for undergraduates and postgraduates in medical colleges. which is no less than a gift for students.

In his statement, Harsh Vardhan said that by the end of March this year, there were over 19.47 lakh doctors of allopathy, ayurveda, Unani and homeopathy in the country. Three common service centres in 900 and Pilibhit have been deactivated. An FIR has been lodged against the Centre's charge-sheets for issuing health cards to unqualified beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the government.
