Thane: Police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the attack on an activist of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction in Maharashtra. A police officer reported this. He said Harshvardhan Palande, deputy chief of the army's Kalyan city unit, was injured in the attack on Wednesday and was admitted to the hospital. A police officer said he was attacked on the Pune Link Road in Kalyan East. Four to five people came in a car and attacked Palande with sticks, iron rods and sharp weapons.

An officer said that Kolsewadi police arrested two persons in this connection on Thursday. The case has been registered under Sections 323, 324, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Palande told the media that Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde's son and Member of Parliament from Kalyan Lok Sabha seat, Shrikant Shinde and former CM Uddhav Thackeray called him up and asked about his health.

He alleged that he was attacked by some associates of a former councillor supporting the Shinde faction. However, the former councillor said he had nothing to do with the case and legal action would be taken against anyone who tried to defame him.
